A Big Boot and a Christmas Tree

This is gonna be my last post for the next two weeks (Finals start Friday). I thought I would send off with some pictures from this weekend that make me giggle.
Coming soon- Holiday Ball 2009.
Thanksgiving was amazing, best one ever! And because of that I didn't even take pictures- oops. On Black Friday, we encountered something that required a permanent reminder. I've really been into cowboy boots lately. They are so comfy and cute, I LOVE IT! Clint and I went into Drysdales to look around. I headed straight for the boot section where I found the holy grail of cowboy boots. And there among them was the biggest boot I have ever seen... seriously. I feel like I should call PETA- no one this large should be riding a horse.

On Friday night we decorated our house for Christmas. Clint virtually has to tie my hands down to keep me from decorating on November 1st so this was a much anticipated event. We got everything out and put up when I realized I couldn't find our tree skirt. When I finally found it in a separate box, it smelled AWFUL. I'm talking pee-tastic. When I unfolded it, it was covered in pee (must have been Maxie's parting gift to Christmas last year). I don't know how to wash a tree skirt, much less remove year old pee, so it went in the trash. Anywho, here is our finished tree...

The rest of the weekend was spent relaxing on the sofa. It was so awesomely amazing.

So I'm grading my Pathology exam...

Background: Today we had our 3rd Pathology exam. After the exam you can pick up the key to your particular exam version and get you grade right then.
Today was a little different story. After I finished, I swiped the exam key and anxiously (as always) began grading my exam. This time I went in a break room to grade it, I have been know to grade it in the bathroom stall (it's nice and private), but this time I chose the break room- with windows.
I missed the first 3.
Well crud, that sucks. Maybe those are the only ones I missed :)
Nope- missed 5 more.
Ugh, I thought I studied pretty well... maybe I should have looked through my notes a 5th time. Keep grading...
Um- 20 missed, IN A ROW
What the heck?! Statistically I should have at least gotten one of those right! What in the world?
And then the kicker, the last 30 questions...
Yep, missed 'em all.
Okay, something's wrong or I'm quitting medical school. I rushed over to show someone and was hoping they would say "ME TOO!" As I wandered aimlessly through the school looking for solice, I walked by a group of students gleefully playing ping-pong, and NO ONE was saying they FAILED!! Uh-oh, maybe this wasn't a mistake, maybe I did fail, maybe I should crawl in a hole... Then I saw Katie, who started talking about a question on the test. She took one look at me and stopped mid-sentence. I handed her my answer sheet, and she (God bless her) said "THAT CAN'T BE RIGHT!"
I sprinted up the stairs to find out, after much turmoil, that the key was wrong. HOLY MOSES that was close!
SIDE NOTE: We went to lunch, and everybody but me watched a lady CHOKE and get the Heimlich maneuver. I totally got the shaft on life today.

I'm sorry, what was that you said?

Yesterday we had a meeting about doing our required rural rotations, and boy was I surprised. I figured Oklahoma in and of itself is "rural" so I thought staying in my general comfort zone would be totally do-able right? WRONG. Apparently the closest rotation site is about 2 hours away and students are REQUIRED to live in the town they are rotating in. As I read the information my internal conversation went something likes this;

RURAL ROTATIONS: Jay, Ardmore, Sallisaw, Spiro, Vian...
Oh, well okay, this could be fun- not so bad. I LOVE rural Oklahoma, yep yep yep...
By the way, you're there for a month...
Huh? a month? that seems like quite a while, but it will be an awesome experience right?
Well the housing is provided for free.
GREAT!! At least I'll have a nice place to stay... right?
Well actually it will probably be a trailer with "several" other students, or a hospital room, but you get to eat in the hospital cafeteria for FREE!
Yep- this is totally gonna suck.

You know your old when...

This weekend Clint and I went to the OU vs. Texas A & M game. We almost always go with my parents and walk around campus corner before the game, eat lunch, and shop. The game was at 6, and we got to Norman about 3, three good hours before the game. At 4:15, my parents HAD to go to the game, (I think my dad is afraid someone is going to steal his season tickets) and Clint and I stayed on the corner. Whilst we where wandering around, we entered an old hangout of ours to check out the game scores etc. where we ran into a whole table of our college friends! They were all sitting at a long table and EVERYONE was drinking/smoking/both. Then I look around at all the same faces that I have seen in extremely compromising positions only to find a high chair... with a baby in it. Yes, that's right people, a baby. Said baby did not belong to any of our friends, but none the less they had their baby, in a bar.
Man are we old.

Dear Construction Workers,

It appears that you have taken up residence in our once semi-quiet study gym. I don't so much mind you living here in harmony with us, however the caliber of your loudness desperately needs to be addressed. If possible, please refrain from dropping the "F" bomb while clamoring your way through the handicap doorway. On that subject, we all know the handicap doorway is excessively slow- no need to remind us all every time you enter and exit. For that extra special worker who can't ever seem to find the "plans", they're in the closet where they have been for the past 3 days, please stop asking. For those of you who don't realize, glass is not a sound insulator. In fact, sound passes quite easily through it. Lastly, I have a question, are 132 keys on a long chain attached to your belt really necessary? I mean how many doors do they allow you people access too?

Thanks so much

Your Ready-to-be-rid-of-you Roommate,

Megan

Church, Dunkings, and Dog Parks

This weekend we had alot of church excitement. We got a new preacher at our church, and he is super great! Our church is the church Clint grew up in and I just started attending after we were married. I love it so much, I am currently debating whether or not I should join his church. The only thing is- I would have to get baptized again, but this time by submersion (what I call, "dunking"). I'm praying about it and seeing where it leads... I'll let ya know.
After we went to "regular" church, we ventured to Clint's Indian church which is only every fourth Sunday. Each family at the church has their own camp house, and most of them are REALLY old. Their camp was super small for our giant family and needed a bit of an overhaul, so that's just what they did. The camp is now at least twice the size and looks so much more modern! I don't have any before pictures, but for those of you (Maya & Stacy)who haven't seen the new camp house and have fond memories of the old one will be able to see the drastic transformation. Just to give an idea to everybody else, the blue siding is all new- the gray stone was the original camp house!

And for something totally different- I've been taking Zoe and Max to the dog park alot lately, and it cracks me up to watch Maxi make "friends" while Zoe sits under my feet and bites at any dog that comes close. I have included a video for your viewing pleasure.
