Newness

Yesterday I went shopping with some of the gift cards I received for Christmas and ended up at the holy grail of makeup- Sephora. I had heard about this really awesome mascara from Dior that smells like roses and after about 15 minutes of smelling every bottle of Dior mascara (I'm not kidding, I think the Sephora staff thought I was a huffer) I found it. It is amazing. So amazing I took a picture of my own eyeball to prove it. Plus every time I blink my face smells like valentines day, I LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!
I also included a picture of my new cowboy boots that my wondrous husband gifted me. My feet smell like leather and my face smells like roses, could life be any more perfect?

Christmas Puppies and Dallas Cowboys

This year at Clint's family Christmas they had an edible art contest. I found a Christmas puppy cookie cutter and went crazy. I only got a picture of the Zoe and Max cookies, but there was a cookie for each of my mom's 3 shih-tzus. As a reward for modelling for the cookies, Zoe received a snuggie.
The most exciting event over Christmas was giving Clint his scavenger hunt for the "GREATEST CHRISTMAS GIFT EVER!!" (or so he says). Back in September, I decided I would get Clint tickets to see his favorite team- the Dallas Cowboys. I kept this hugemongous secret for 4 months, which in and of itself is a miracle. I think I told everyone I saw, including complete strangers about the secret. On top of me pinching myself everyday to not blurt out the surprise, I encountered another obstacle, my debit card number was stolen. We had to go through all of our bank statements back to June. Thankfully there was only one suspicious charge (the hotel) that Clint dismissed as soon as I said "Uuuuhhhh, DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT!"
The result of all the planning and lip biting was a 4 clue rhyming scavenger hunt that ended with shock and awe and lots of jumping for joy. He was SO excited, I told him I think he had a more ecstatic reaction to the tickets than he did to seeing me on our wedding day!
We are leaving this weekend for Dallas so look for pictures of our adventure to come...

Christmas House and a Delicious Dish

I finally got a chance to clean up our house. Let me be the first to say it was horrid, it smelled like dirty dishes and old socks-disgusting. But now it is sparkling and fully christmafied! It makes me wish I was a house wife. It is so nice to clean your house and then just sit around looking at it and not have to worry about anything else, including SCHOOL!
I took pictures of how disgusting the house was before and had every intention of sharing the before and after with all of you. Then I decided that I didn't even want to expose myself to the pictures so you will only be seeing the after. Please ignore the food on the coffee table, Clint took FOREVER to eat dinner and I couldn't wait any longer to take a picture (and yes we always eat dinner in front of the T.V.).
After I got the house in order, I read Lindsey's (sweetsimplicityblog.com) blog with a recipe for Rolo pretzel candy and it sounded so good I had to make it! I ventured to Wal-Mart to pick up the supplies only to search long and hard for Rolo's for which I never found. I thought about asking but after searching for so long I was afraid I might scream, "WHERE ARE THE ROLO'S?!!" so I decided to try something else. And settled upon mini snickers. Lindsey's recipe had a rolo on top of a pretzel with a peanut squished in, so I figured that with snickers all of this is in one magical package.
I followed the same recipe (350 for 3 minutes) and at the end instead of squishing in a peanut, I squished in another pretzel. They are soooo good! And they kinda look like little Christmas presents!

Starting a new blog?

I recently officially and whole heartedly joined the most amazing church for which Clint was already a member. Our church is growing by leaps and bounds, and we really want to engage our own age group into our super awesome church family. So our idea is to start a blog detailing our experiences in church, church events, get-togethers, etc. We are hoping that this will give people an idea of what we are all about, how we worship, and hopefully entice them to come and visit. I am just wondering if anybody thinks this would be a good idea in blogger world. Comments? Anyone interested?

Holiday Bizzle

Last night was awesome. I finished my last of 7 finals and got to spend the evening with Clint and my friends from school. We had a great time- free photo booth, chicken fried chicken AND steak (Clint's favorite thing), and dancing like it we were at an 8th grade dance.

Now that I'm through for 4 whole weeks, I will be relaxing, shopping, and doing whatever I want! So prepare yourself for more blog randomness. In closing, here are a few pictures from the start of my Holiday break.

All of these pictures were taken prior to my strap breaking on my dress (what designer holds straps on with buttons? BCBG), but Clint came to the rescue and tied the straps in the back to make a halter. Isn't he just perfect?

This is as modelesque as it gets people, this is the after..

A Big Boot and a Christmas Tree

This is gonna be my last post for the next two weeks (Finals start Friday). I thought I would send off with some pictures from this weekend that make me giggle.
Coming soon- Holiday Ball 2009.
Thanksgiving was amazing, best one ever! And because of that I didn't even take pictures- oops. On Black Friday, we encountered something that required a permanent reminder. I've really been into cowboy boots lately. They are so comfy and cute, I LOVE IT! Clint and I went into Drysdales to look around. I headed straight for the boot section where I found the holy grail of cowboy boots. And there among them was the biggest boot I have ever seen... seriously. I feel like I should call PETA- no one this large should be riding a horse.

On Friday night we decorated our house for Christmas. Clint virtually has to tie my hands down to keep me from decorating on November 1st so this was a much anticipated event. We got everything out and put up when I realized I couldn't find our tree skirt. When I finally found it in a separate box, it smelled AWFUL. I'm talking pee-tastic. When I unfolded it, it was covered in pee (must have been Maxie's parting gift to Christmas last year). I don't know how to wash a tree skirt, much less remove year old pee, so it went in the trash. Anywho, here is our finished tree...

The rest of the weekend was spent relaxing on the sofa. It was so awesomely amazing.

So I'm grading my Pathology exam...

Background: Today we had our 3rd Pathology exam. After the exam you can pick up the key to your particular exam version and get you grade right then.
Today was a little different story. After I finished, I swiped the exam key and anxiously (as always) began grading my exam. This time I went in a break room to grade it, I have been know to grade it in the bathroom stall (it's nice and private), but this time I chose the break room- with windows.
I missed the first 3.
Well crud, that sucks. Maybe those are the only ones I missed :)
Nope- missed 5 more.
Ugh, I thought I studied pretty well... maybe I should have looked through my notes a 5th time. Keep grading...
Um- 20 missed, IN A ROW
What the heck?! Statistically I should have at least gotten one of those right! What in the world?
And then the kicker, the last 30 questions...
Yep, missed 'em all.
Okay, something's wrong or I'm quitting medical school. I rushed over to show someone and was hoping they would say "ME TOO!" As I wandered aimlessly through the school looking for solice, I walked by a group of students gleefully playing ping-pong, and NO ONE was saying they FAILED!! Uh-oh, maybe this wasn't a mistake, maybe I did fail, maybe I should crawl in a hole... Then I saw Katie, who started talking about a question on the test. She took one look at me and stopped mid-sentence. I handed her my answer sheet, and she (God bless her) said "THAT CAN'T BE RIGHT!"
I sprinted up the stairs to find out, after much turmoil, that the key was wrong. HOLY MOSES that was close!
SIDE NOTE: We went to lunch, and everybody but me watched a lady CHOKE and get the Heimlich maneuver. I totally got the shaft on life today.

I'm sorry, what was that you said?

Yesterday we had a meeting about doing our required rural rotations, and boy was I surprised. I figured Oklahoma in and of itself is "rural" so I thought staying in my general comfort zone would be totally do-able right? WRONG. Apparently the closest rotation site is about 2 hours away and students are REQUIRED to live in the town they are rotating in. As I read the information my internal conversation went something likes this;

RURAL ROTATIONS: Jay, Ardmore, Sallisaw, Spiro, Vian...
Oh, well okay, this could be fun- not so bad. I LOVE rural Oklahoma, yep yep yep...
By the way, you're there for a month...
Huh? a month? that seems like quite a while, but it will be an awesome experience right?
Well the housing is provided for free.
GREAT!! At least I'll have a nice place to stay... right?
Well actually it will probably be a trailer with "several" other students, or a hospital room, but you get to eat in the hospital cafeteria for FREE!
Yep- this is totally gonna suck.

You know your old when...

This weekend Clint and I went to the OU vs. Texas A & M game. We almost always go with my parents and walk around campus corner before the game, eat lunch, and shop. The game was at 6, and we got to Norman about 3, three good hours before the game. At 4:15, my parents HAD to go to the game, (I think my dad is afraid someone is going to steal his season tickets) and Clint and I stayed on the corner. Whilst we where wandering around, we entered an old hangout of ours to check out the game scores etc. where we ran into a whole table of our college friends! They were all sitting at a long table and EVERYONE was drinking/smoking/both. Then I look around at all the same faces that I have seen in extremely compromising positions only to find a high chair... with a baby in it. Yes, that's right people, a baby. Said baby did not belong to any of our friends, but none the less they had their baby, in a bar.
Man are we old.

Dear Construction Workers,

It appears that you have taken up residence in our once semi-quiet study gym. I don't so much mind you living here in harmony with us, however the caliber of your loudness desperately needs to be addressed. If possible, please refrain from dropping the "F" bomb while clamoring your way through the handicap doorway. On that subject, we all know the handicap doorway is excessively slow- no need to remind us all every time you enter and exit. For that extra special worker who can't ever seem to find the "plans", they're in the closet where they have been for the past 3 days, please stop asking. For those of you who don't realize, glass is not a sound insulator. In fact, sound passes quite easily through it. Lastly, I have a question, are 132 keys on a long chain attached to your belt really necessary? I mean how many doors do they allow you people access too?

Thanks so much

Your Ready-to-be-rid-of-you Roommate,

Megan

Church, Dunkings, and Dog Parks

This weekend we had alot of church excitement. We got a new preacher at our church, and he is super great! Our church is the church Clint grew up in and I just started attending after we were married. I love it so much, I am currently debating whether or not I should join his church. The only thing is- I would have to get baptized again, but this time by submersion (what I call, "dunking"). I'm praying about it and seeing where it leads... I'll let ya know.
After we went to "regular" church, we ventured to Clint's Indian church which is only every fourth Sunday. Each family at the church has their own camp house, and most of them are REALLY old. Their camp was super small for our giant family and needed a bit of an overhaul, so that's just what they did. The camp is now at least twice the size and looks so much more modern! I don't have any before pictures, but for those of you (Maya & Stacy)who haven't seen the new camp house and have fond memories of the old one will be able to see the drastic transformation. Just to give an idea to everybody else, the blue siding is all new- the gray stone was the original camp house!

And for something totally different- I've been taking Zoe and Max to the dog park alot lately, and it cracks me up to watch Maxi make "friends" while Zoe sits under my feet and bites at any dog that comes close. I have included a video for your viewing pleasure.

Hello Kmart, it's nice to meet you

Yesterday I did a sorta mini rotation at a clinic for the uninsured, and lets just say it wasn't in the best part of town. My rotation started at 1:30 and I headed over right after class at 11:30 wanting to get something to eat before and be a little early.

After I found the clinic, (and was thoroughly frightened) I drove to KFC to get some hot wings. I was too scared to go inside and eat alone so I found a Kmart and sat in my car eating my chicken. Once I finished, I remembered that I needed toilet paper and hey I was right there at Kmart. I had parked far away so people wouldn't laugh at sad little me eating fried chicken alone in my car that I was concerned that I would be bonked on the head while walking inside so I pulled up as close as I could and entered the Kmart.

IT WAS AWESOME. People have told me that the Kmarts they have been in were awful and messy, but this one was very clean and had some of the cutest stuff I've seen at a discount store in a long long while! The home section had Country Living bedding and kitchen stuff that was so cute. The clothing section had really cute stuff too, and the SHOES... oh the SHOES! I bought two pair but probably could of invested in a couple more. Both pairs were only $12 a piece, and none of the other items I got were much more.

After one hour and $140 dollars later, I left K-mart, never to enter again. I'll miss you my new friend. Maybe I should have stopped by the self defense aisle before checking out.

What happens in October...

I understand that tests are vital, I might go as far as to say useful for documenting our progress. But seriously, I've taken enough tests in 30 days to kill a small horse (if a horse took tests). So now that I finally finished I thought I would go through all the things that I missed and the craziness that has ensued in the past 720 hours. Here's to all those who have missed me in October...

So studying takes up time- and my TV shows were missing me. I had to watch Project Runway, but I also needed to plan my mom's and nephew's birthday parties. So what's a girl to do? MULTI-TASK!

While I was studying, Clint started torturing the dogs. In this picture Zoe was desperately begging for food from Clint and he decided to precariously place a squeaker toy on her back. She was so HUNGRY! She didn't even notice...

Making through the month was REALLY tiring. So one day I decided to take a nap... and Clint decided to document it. P.S. Sorry about the non-matching socks, apparently the clean laundry is also lacking, and yes- that is Santa (I'm subconsciously wishing for Christmas)

And now it's over (Praise God!) and I don't have any big tests for a couple weeks!! As soon as we got through we went shopping. I found the greatest jacket EVER (if you want to be a snow beast for Halloween)...

If you thought I crawled in a hole (which I did) and didn't talk to you (which I didn't) and you thought it was just because I didn't like you anymore, you were wrong. I have included a pic of my calendar for good measure.

Halloween in Shih-Tzu Land

It's Halloween time and all this med-school crap is putting a damper on my shopping. Thankfully, my wonderfully mommy came through in the clutch and anticipated my need for tiny dog costumes. Max is slightly less excited than I was about him being pegged as the jackass of the family with his tiny cowboy rider, and Zoe is adorable as always dressing up as an OU cheerleader
.

Kupcakz

At school the other day someone mentioned cupcakes. My mom's birthday was coming up so I inquired further and was directed toward a magical little place called "Kupcakz" where the best cupcakes ever live. I've had some cupcakes in my time, and these were completely different. I ordered "Tropical Bliss" which had big chunks of pineapple and coconut in the cake, and "My Brown Eyed Granny Girl" which also had baked cinnamon apples in the cake and a caramel swirl on top. Clint (who doesn't like cake) ate the whole thing! This place even has a website, so you can order them in advance and pick them up.

Weekend Montage

This weekend was so amazing! I tried not to think about school too much and just hang out and relax. To document my efforts, I was going to put up 3 different posts, but then decided that was just crazy and elected for a montage of the interesting events.

Friday- My whole family came up to Tulsa to go to an indie art show. It was hippies galore, but I did discover hippies are pretty creative (guess it's all the free time). Clint and I found this one lady hippy who made rosaries out of odds and ends from all over the world. It was so cool! I fell in love with one and had to have it, however, not being Catholic I don't know anything about what it all means and the hippy that sold it to me didn't either. Later, I was told by my Catholic brother-in-law that you aren't even supposed to wear rosaries, and now I'm wondering if me wearing it is going to offend someone. Hopefully Clint's cousin (who is a genius about many things, include catholic ritual etc.) will fill me in on what religious sacrilege I'm defiling.

Saturday- Clint and I went to the OU vs. Baylor game and had an awesome time! While walking around campus corner, we ran into my freshman roomate- who I absolutely LOVE! It was so good to see her and catch up. Then Clint got to play out his dream of being the OU head football coach (if only in picture form). After the game, Clint and I went to dinner, and the Defensive Back coach for OU sat right behind us. It was pretty cool, even if I wouldn't have known him from Adam if Clint hadn't said something. I knew we would be gone all day, and got a little concerned about Maxi's toilet habits, so I put down what I'm calling a floor diaper. I haven't ever tried it before, but thought I would give it a shot. Please refer to Sunday for further commentary...

Sunday- We got home late last night and thankfully my mom dropped by our house to let Zoe and Max outside. This morning the "diapers" were still on the floor- clean and dry. When I got out of the shower, I soon figured out what Max was using them for. Of all the dog beds in our house that he REFUSES to lay on, he finds comfort on the pee pad, little weiner.

The Infamous OU dress...

So about a month ago, I decided I needed a dress... made out of a t-shirt... an OU t-shirt. I thought "this is gonna be soooo easy!" just a couple stiches and there you go. I was wrong. I should have known when I went to the fabric store completely clueless and the clerk asked me, "is your mommy going to help you?" it would be a disaster.
Thankfully, my friend Lindsay (sweetsimplicityblog.com, who made one that actually looked like what it should) directed me to a website called The Polka Dot Alley. These ladies make all kinds of super cute stuff including t-shirt dresses! I hurriedly sent in my t-shirts to have a professional rectify my mistake. The turn around was incredible, not even a full week before my dress was in my grubby little hands!

It turned out SO cute- I love it, it's great, can't wait to wear it! The unfortunate part is that my first opportunity would be this weekend. This random dreary way-to-early-to-be-this-cold weekend, so looks like my much anticipated t-shirt dress will have to wait till next season. Sorry dress, in you go with all the summer tube tops and short skirts- not to be seen till next year. But before I place you in your dark tupperware coffin for the next 200 days, I will take a picture with you, and post you on my blog, where I will gaze out you frequently, and say "Maybe next year dress, maybe next year."

My New Table!

I have been wanting a table to put right behing our sofa in the living room and I FINALLY found one! I found my cute little table at Wal-Mart for $74 and it came with both the buffet lamps you see in the picture- such a great deal! My little light up Christmas houses will find their home here in a couple of months, and I can't wait to have them out for everyone to see!

Hair Vitamins

For those of you who don't know me, I'm growing my hair out, or attempting anyway. I say "for those of you who don't know me" because, if you do know me you've already heard about my hair growth probably on a daily basis and have been forcibly asked to tell me how "long" my hair is getting! Since I just started my handy dandy blog, I thought I would track my hair growth and let everyone in on how I'm doing it.

So it all started with GNC hair, skin, and nails vitamins. I buy the whole program and have been taking them since March 2009, and I think I've grown about 5 1/2 inches- that's almost an inch a month! The program comes with the hair, skin, and nails vitamins that taste like pond scum, evening primrose oil, and collagen gel caps. I really think they work, and the lady who does my hair has noticed it is thicker and healthier! If your trying to grow out those locks, give them a try! Only $20 a month to long luxurious hair! (I sound like an infomercial- hey GNC where's my kick back?)

The Fair

Every where we go, we seem to find animals that we think (in our bizarre way) look like our own dogs. It's really weird I know, but can be pretty funny when you see a resemblance. This is a picture of a donkey at the petting zoo at the fair, and max. See the similarity?

So I'm starting a blog... yeah, that's right, just starting. I thought my first post should be something about why I decided to start with this blog thing now, but truth is- I can't really come up with a reason. So, for now, I'm gonna post pix of these two crazy dogs and let those who are interested in on what is happening in my life. Enjoy!
